More recently I have been creating simple 3D assets (minus the fun texture art) for various projects. Most of them were under some sort of art direction however several of them were me just knocking together a quick and usable solution.Most of them are just a MESH with a NORMAL BAKE + AO BAKE. Using a program such as Substance Painter, a Tech artist can put together a simple set of unique textures/materials using just the base normal and a well UV’d mesh. It’s not the same as painting everything by hand however it is a very fast and effective way to produce good looking background assets within a tighter deadline. I will probably go back at some stage and texture each piece as time permits.
